Home for the Holidays

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Despite having NO snow yet, I have A Very She & Him Christmas on repeat, Christmas baking in the oven, and am getting my own little holiday touches up around the home. I got a "tree" this year - my first little tree, all my own. While, technically it's a plant (a Norfolk Pine to be exact) it still brings a festive feel into the space. Living in an apartment, I find it's easy to overwhelm with decor - I'm a believer that less is more so I generally try to keep things pretty simplistic and clean. And this is the same for my Christmas decor.

Friday Inspiration: Holiday DIY

This year, I resolve to be more crafty. These are a few of the DIY ideas that caught my eye this holiday season. While I'm not known for my craftiness, every year I end up with the resolution that I will attempt more DIY projects... but this has yet to come to fruition. FAIL. So once again this year, I promise to DIY more and share my crafting adventures with you! Please hold me to this.

Put a sprig of evergreen in a mason jar and add water and a floating tea light for a festive winter centerpiece.
Head to 'Oh Happy Day' for an easy tutorial on how to make this shimmery faceted vase.
My family doesn't buy gifts, but if we did I love this idea of making your own wrapping paper with reused and vintage items, as inspired by Paige Smith Designs.
We don't have any snow yet, so these waterless snow globes are the perfect remedy to a white Christmas. Sweet Something Designs has all the steps for you to make your own.

Tuesday Tunes: Cider Sky

I'll look past the fact that this band contributed music to a Twilight soundtrack simply because the music is so damn catchy & dreamy

Kicking Off Christmas!

Although I've been listening to Christmas music for a good three weeks now, we officially "kicked-off" Christmas this weekend! It's become an annual tradition with my old university gal pals and, being back in Halifax now, this was my first time participating post-University days.

We started the night with a delicious home cooked meal and moved onto wine, cocktails and Pinterest inspired treats from there. We watched the cheesiest Christmas movies possible, and I can't tell you how nice it was to curl up next to a Christmas tree (my family hasn't had one in 6 years) with some of my oldest girlfriends for the eve! It's no secret that this is my favourite time of year, but my friend Jill - our lovely host this weekend - truly rivals my love for the holiday. Here are a few snaps from our festive weekend at her home in Truro!

Festive DIY decorations.

Can you tell which movie we threw in for the boys?

An Old Fashioned kind of night.

My date & I for the night.
